Exploring the human experience through voice, piano, and song

Origins
Sandu Bantas is a Moldovan-born singer, songwriter, composer, and performer based in the United Kingdom.
Raised in a family spanning four generations of musicians, he grew up surrounded by classical music, jazz, gospel, and Romanian folklore traditions that continue to shape his artistic voice today.
A graduate of Jazz and Pop Composition from the George Enescu National University of Arts in Iasi, Sandu’s work has moved between composition, choral music, improvisation, and live performance. His compositions have been performed internationally, and his work as a vocalist has been recognised through awards, scholarships, and a semi-final placement in BBC Gospel Singer of the Year 2022.
Alongside his work as a composer and performer, Sandu is developing a voice-and-piano songwriting project rooted in chamber pop, indie folk, neo-soul, and jazz. His releases include the improvised collaborative album pandora’s sketchbook and the original song De Ne-am Iubi.
Whether through song, improvisation, or choral writing, his work explores presence, memory, and human connection.

Music
De Ne-am Iubi
(with Chris Bantas)
De Ne-am Iubi reflects on the delicate space between hope and uncertainty in love. It is an invitation to imagine what becomes possible when we meet one another with honesty, tenderness, and courage.
pandora's sketchbook (improvisation)
pandora's sketchbook (improvisation) is a seven-piece improvised work recorded with my brother Chris on drums. Rather than seeking perfection, we sought presence, allowing each piece to emerge naturally, with all its imperfections, surprises, and moments of grace. Rooted in reflection, the album explores our relationship with the unexpected, the fleeting beauty of the present moment, and the shared experience of being human.
